2002 to 320 Radiator UpgradeWhat you will need: |
| One 320 radiator Bottom Rubber mounts for a 320 radiator 2 rubber spacers that will fit a 1/4 inch bolt 2 1/4 inch diameter 1-1/4 inch long bolt 2 1/4 inch nuts 4 1/4 inch washers 2 1 inch sheet metal screws A drill with 1/4 inch bit and another one that I can't remember the size of Metal cutter And of course all your other tools |
| This project takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete. It is actually very easy to do and easier if two people are working on it.
|
| 1. First remove the older worn out radiator by removing the top and
bottom radiator hoses and taking out the four screws (two on each side) of the
radiator. Once it is out of the way remove the battery from the battery tray. |
| 2. Now try putting in the new radiator. This will let you know
where to cut the battery tray. I recommend getting an air compressor with a
metal cutter tool, but a metal hack saw will do (you'll need more time). Cut a line
parallel with the front of the car back to where the battery actually sits in the tray.
Then just bend down the metal. Now try to place the radiator down in there, it might take
a bit of maneuvering, but it should go in. |
| 3. Take
your 1/4" bit and drill a hole in the front wall of the car to match the
two upper mounting spots. |
| 4. Now notice where the radiator rests on the
crossbar. This where you will place the rubber mounts for the radiator. Take out
the radiator. Easiest way to do it is to place the mount where you want it and
drill through the center of the rubber mount and into the crossbar, make sure
you space them out evenly, approximately 7.5".
Don't be afraid to push on that drill, otherwise it is never going to go through.
|
| 5. Once again put the radiator back in. Now take the bolts,
nuts, washers and rubber spacers. Put a washer on the bolt and put through the
mount putting a rubber spacer in-between the mount and the front wall of the
car. Now put a washer on the other end of the bolt and put on the nut. |
| 6. Hook up the hoses and you're ready to go. Oh, check for leaks! |
