Probably one of my most productive months so far. I think it is
because I finally see the end in sight. OK, end is the wrong word, maybe the fun beginning is a better term.

Had to rebend the brake lines so that I could turn fully, they look bad, but work and I've seen worse. |
While working the brakes I noticed a problem. |
The sway bar mount here come out of the bracket and wasn't very stiff, so I had to repair it. The front part was bent out of shape so I had to take care of that first. |
Luckily the bolts weren't rusted together. Allen wrench style bolts are used here because of the tight space. |
And here it is all nice and cozy. |
Putting the exhaust on, had to brace it with something. |
Tightened up on the manifold and the rear muffler bracket is on, still need to weld it. Also found that I have a down pipe for an automatic as the tranny mount doesn't fit right. |
Cleaning up the area to weld the holes where the trim was. |
Welded up and needs to be smoothed. |
Whoops! Now I know why the door was so heavy, the entire lower half an a quarter inch of bondo. I used a flapper pad to sand it down and grind the welds. |
Cleaned all the stuff off of it, except for the dust. |
I had to trim down the edges of the gas tank to make it fit a little better. |
Back in place. Now only one of the bolts doesn't line up. And I need to hook up the filler neck. |
Shot of the rusty muffler. |
New parts, rear subframe (carrier) mounts, tranny exhaust braket and wheel stud. |
Reason I had to replace them. Also used 10.9 hardness bolts like Keith, only I used socket head ones. |
Exhaust going over subframe. |
Other side, this one wasn't as bad, but still needed to be replaced. |
Subframe mount areas, I cleaned them up and sprayed rubber undercoating on them, pic later on sometime. |
Reinstall, before tightening the subframe mount nut, get this bar in place, then tighten. |
Welded to help hold it together, still needs more. |
A shot of it running with the flash on. |
Taillights, they are both now the same brightness. |
Backed it back in to the garage for the night. |
Next day, drove it out into the street to turn it around. Brakes work. Also ran it for 25 minutes to set the electric fan and try to tune it. Also the heater valve didn't leak this time. |
Finally got the broken bolt out of the lower piece on the center grill and replaced it. Bolted it in place. And it was good. |
Installed the hood bar latch thingy, not sure if it is right though. |
The lever doesn't seem tight enough, something must be installed wrong. |
Brought home more stuff from my parents house. Also found a heat shield for the muffler and installed it. Gas tank is done. |
This shows one of the bolts for the 320 radiator mounting spots. Also shows the electric fan attachment piece (black thing) and the temp sensor for the control unit. |
Reran the wire for the temp sensor under the battery tray to clean it up in that area, also removed an old fog light relay that wasn't hooked up to anything. |
And lastly, replaced the old hose that connected the heater valve to the heater box. It was so old it cracked and broke apart as I removed it. Just have to finish hooking up the rest of the hoses. |
